Favorite Champion of PKM-KC at PIMNAS - Surabaya, Indonesia

SURABAYA – The Student Creativity Program (PKM) team from Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) successfully earned the Favorite Winner award at the 2024 National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) held at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, from October 14–18, 2024. This year’s PIMNAS served as the advanced stage of the 2024 PKM selection process, where participants went through several rigorous phases, including proposal selection, progress report, presentation, and final report.

In the initial selection phase, Polibatam received funding for 43 proposed PKM project titles. These titles were selected from thousands of submissions from 459 public and private universities across Indonesia. The projects covered various categories, including PKM-K (Entrepreneurship), PKM-KC (Creative Ideas), PKM-KI (Innovative Works), PKM-PI (Science and Technology Application), PKM-PM (Community Service), and PKM-RE (Exact Research).

After receiving the funding, Polibatam teams underwent another round of national-level jury selection to present their PKM projects at PIMNAS. Out of the 43 funded teams, three teams from Polibatam advanced to PIMNAS, competing with a total of 525 teams from 118 universities across Indonesia.

The three teams that passed the national selection brought forward outstanding innovations. The first project, titled “Design and Development of a Heart Rate Monitoring System to Reduce the Risk of Myocardial Infarction in Athletes During Training Sessions Using IoT”, was led by Muhammad Hidayat Nurwahid under the guidance of Mr. Kamarudin. The second project, titled “Portable Traffic Violation Detection Device Based on Deep Learning Technology and Integrated with Solar Panel as a Power Source”, was led by Dani Muti Aziz and supervised by Mr. Eko Rudiawan Jamzuri.
